Let’s just go ahead and get the hardest part out of the way, shall we? There are a variety of things involved in creating a killer website: design, usability, content relevancy, and my most favorite one – “oomph”. But here’s a little secret that most web designers & developers won’t tell you: What really defines a “good website” is relative. You may initially think certain aspects are required to get the job done, and I may agree or disagree… but you know what’s most important? What your customer thinks… what your customer needs, and what your customer wants.
When I design your website, I step outside the box and look at things through a large, freshly washed window. You and I will imagine ourselves as your potential customer, and design not just a website – but an experience that will leave your customers screaming for more, and ultimately contacting you for whatever it is you’re offering – whether that means selling products worldwide online or offering local services in your community.
Does your website need bells and whistles like cool Flash animation and rocket ships flying around each page? Well, that sounds cool, but it might make more sense – both financially for you, as well as for usability by your customer – to leave the rocket ships in outer space, and instead include more useful things like video testimonials from your past customers, stunning photographs of your products – or perhaps just a plain, simple site that visitors can quickly navigate around to find the relevant information they’re searching for from you (after all, the human race is typically an impatient one).
